A Crazy Day Out at Volcano Falls Adventure Golf
Volcano Falls Adventure Golf is mini golf with a difference and appeals to kids of all ages – the little ones and the big ones. We saw plenty of adults in fits of laughter as they tried to get a little ball in a little hole in the midst of jungle foliage, sound effects and sudden gusts of tropical wind.
As well as being an immersive adventure for kids, Volcano Falls also runs corporate or team building events and work nights out so you can tell adults love it too. It’s a great place for kids’ birthday parties if you’re looking for something a bit different. We were impressed that everywhere is spotless and well maintained.
After a friendly welcome from the staff we were armed with golf clubs and score cards and headed for Volcano Valley, prepared to do battle.
Two Mini Golf Courses to Choose From
Volcano Valley is one of two 18 hole mini golf courses. The other is the T-Rex Trail, but our youngest wasn’t too keen on the animatronic dinosaur that oversees the course. If your kids do like dinosaurs though, the towering, moving model of the T-Rex will jack up the excitement levels even higher and is guaranteed to be a talking point for weeks to come.
The T-Rex Trail rises up over two levels whereas Volcano Valley stays down on the ground. Might be something to think about when you’re deciding which course to take.
Exploding Volcano and Plunging Waterfalls
Some of the holes were a bit tricky so our five year old needed some help to get round, but this didn’t spoil our enjoyment because although we had score cards the day was more about family fun than who was going to win.
The interactive nature of the course, with imaginative boulder-like structures separating the holes, kept young imaginations fully engaged. We played on through a volcano, past a waterfall and through pre-historic jungle scenery. The special light and sound effects set the scene and created an atmosphere of adventure and mystery.
The fun doesn’t stop at the 18th hole. You all get a go at the Lucky 19th hole. Get your ball in the centre of this hole and win a FREE game (no, we didn’t manage it. Next time maybe!). The kids then rushed over for refreshments and all cooled down with a slush puppy.
We went on a Saturday and it was quite busy so it took us just under an hour to get round Volcano Valley with a bit of waiting if we ran into other groups ahead of us. Not that it mattered. We weren’t watching the clock and it gave us more time to enjoy the atmosphere and plot strategies for a hole in one.
6D XD Experience and Funstation
Whilst we were there we also tried out the XD experience and Funstation situated on the second floor of Xscape. These are owned by the same company. Watch out for the new combo deals coming soon!
The 6D, XD Experiece is an extreme ride with special light and wind effects that all add to the illusion of thrills and spills, but you’re safe in a theatre. You’d be surprised how realistic it is, and we challenge you not to feel just a bit breathless by the end.
We had a great time with lots of laughter, fun and excitement. The kids loved it and definitely want to go back.
