WHERE DID THAT YEAR GO?
The last 12 months has been rather busy down on the farm, what with the opening of Moo by Day, then Beast by Night, 1 year ago this weekend! Not to mention the largest pumpkin festival in the country bringing visitors into the area from as far as Liverpool & south of Nottingham and causing rather large tailbacks on the roads locally (sorry). Farmer Copleys has really expanded the farm experience to much more than just the Farm Shop.
The rapid growth that Farmer Copleys has/is going through has taken us from 36 team members this time in 2016 to 65 today. The new faces are now well and truly part of the team that are here to welcome visitors, the Beast Team is of course a totally new edition to Farmer Copleys Team. The Beast chef team is headed up by Carl Frost who has been creating some truly inspiring and delicious ‘Field to Fork’ dishes with the Steak Nights been particularly popular. Let’s face it… Yorkshire Born ‘n’ Bred Farm Shop Steaks + Beast Chefs = sublime steak! Simple but it works.
This weekend visitors to Beast will be welcomed with a celebratory glass of fizz upon arrival (complementary) to help us mark the occasion, a nice surprise for those already booked in. (This will be followed shortly by the Farm Shops 15th Anniversary in early December, everything happens at once here!).
The Beast Team of chefs are developing a range of retail products for the farm shop ie. side dishes of vegetables to accompany your Christmas dinner, all made properly from scratch as you would at home yourself. These items are easily recognised with a ‘Made by Beast’ sticker. This way you can take a bit of Beast home with you, we won’t tell your guests/family that you haven’t made it, it can be our little secret. Carl has also taken the Jam Kitchen under his wing, developing and producing an amazing range of preserves, pickles, anything you can put in a jar, this weekend he will be making Mulled Wine followed by Boozy Cranberry Sauce, tasters will be available!
Claudio (from Lake Como now Upton, West Yorkshire) our resident sommelier has developed the ‘Let the Fun B’Gin’ gin card for gin lovers in Beast. Claudio can be found in the Farm Shop this weekend with his gin tasters and plenty of advice on which wine to pair with your festive meals, so please feel free to pick his brains, what he doesn’t know about wines and cocktails isn’t worth knowing.
