Castleford Comic Con
July 22 at 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
10:00 – 16:00
Our biggest show to-date will take place in Castleford on 22nd July, in a summer extravaganza you won’t want to miss.
Castleford Civic Centre will play host to a multi-floor event incorporating all the excitement of the comic convention scene.
The fantastic Patricia Quinn will be joining us as a special guest. Patricia very famously played Magenta in the cult classic original Rocky Horror Picture Show alongside Tim Curry and Richard O’Brien.
Patricia’s long and varied acting career has seen her play roles in many big-screen films and television programmes, including Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life, Doctor Who, Bergerac, The Bill, and more!
Our next guest is the fantastic Hugh Spight who will be joining us all day to meet and greet fans, and talk about his experiences on and off screen.
He has had a long and varied career in films and television, including playing a Gammorean Guard and Prune Face in the legendary Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
He also designed and operated several creatures in the cult classic film Dark Crystal, and was a Dalek operator in Dr. Who, as well as having had other roles in various TV programmes and movies.
Martin Ballantyne who played the Joker’s Henchman in Batman: Dark Knight, as well as having starred in many other films and TV shows, will also be with us all day to talk about his experiences both on and off-screen.
A big venue needs a big attraction, and it doesn’t get much bigger than Flame the life-sized animatronic fully-manned dragon! Standing an impressive 2.2 metres high, Flame will be breathing smoke, walking around the venue, and mingling with children and adults alike. Prepare to be wowed!
Doctor Who fans will be pleased as we have several Daleks in attendance at Castleford Comic Con. We promise they won’t exterminate you though!
The Super Heroes Cosplay will be bringing along one of their incredible displays, as well as a wide range of professional costumed characters — everything from Batman to Iron Patriot and many many more.
If you like animals, we’ll have two beautiful Macaw parrots with their friendly pirate handles. Not to mention Pandora’s Box Zoo Days will be bringing a variety of mammals and reptiles including snakes, spiders, lizards, skunks, and a prairie dog.
Conventions wouldn’t be the same without cosplay competitions, and Castleford is no different. We’ll have a great on-stage costume contest with awesome prizes, so wear your best outfit and come along!
We’re very delighted to be joined by the South Yorkshire Amateur Paranormal Society, who will be giving a talk on-stage about their real-life ghost hunting experiences! You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and see their equipment. Creepy!
The Shooting Range will be along outside the venue, so have a go at some safe fun target practice!
We will have a fantastic gaming suite complete with multi-player PS4 gaming, as well as an impressive six VR units, brought by VRX Lounge and The Gaming Room.
Those of you who are Star Wars fans will be delighted by the on-stage Lightsaber Training classes by Path of the Chosen: Combat Academy. Learn how to use the force!
We will have some awesome genuine ex-service USA police cars on display, both of which have been used in the upcoming 2018 Liam Neeson film The Commuter.
The awesome Doctor Bell will be at Castleford Comic Con transporting people to brand new realms with a single click of his Magical Mirrorless Picture Box. This impressive green screen manipulator is one of the most sought after in the convention world.
If shopping is your thing, you’ll find a plethora of traders tables selling all manner of geeky and hand-made merchandise, art prints, books, toys, collectables, and so much more. You’ll be sure to find something to take home as a souvenir of your day out.
